The men's 100 metres record is smashed by the biggest margin in modern times
IT WAS another big occasion and yet another world record for a Jamaican sprinter, Usain Bolt, on Sunday August 16th. At the athletics World Championships he broke the 100 metres sprint record again, taking his own time down to 9.58 seconds from 9.69 seconds, set a year ago at the Beijing Olympics. This is the most the record has fallen since electronic timing was first used in 1968. In the century or so since official records began a little more than a second has been shaved off the quickest time for the sprint, an improvement of 9%.

Collision Course "Rammstein Meets Oktoberfest" :-)

Most of US visitors know Rammstein probably only as the largest US Air base outside the US. It is also a very popular band in Germany and they are probably one of the most successful German bands in the rest of the world. Some say that tells it all.....

I´m pretty sure i don´t need to tell anybody what the Oktoberfest in Munich is....

It looks like at least a few in Germany have a good sense of humor and one has put up this amusing clip

cycling and doping / :-(

what a mess (should be no surprise).......... in the last week 4-5 top germany cyclist (of the state owned/controlled telekom) of the past decade have confirmed that they have doped since the mid 90...... same could be said about armstrong or every tour/giro etc winner in the past.

was für ein debakel ( sollte allerdings keinen mehr überraschen)...... damit dürfte wohl klar sein das praktisch alle großen rundfahrgewinner der vergangenheit gedopt waren......

"manufacturing dissent" demystifying Michael Moore (a little bit)

a little bit ot but i think this two clips are worth watching. especially in germany michael moore is almost cult.

the large part of his popularity is mainly the result of the very low opinion for george w.bush..... should be no surprise.......

to me it was no big surprise that some parts of his "documentaries" were fake. but some of the fakes are really hard to swallow ( the withhold interview with the gm ceo in "roger and me" ).......

so keep this in mind when you watch his latest film "sicko" (health care system) coming june 29th....

da michael moore hier in deutschland fast kultstatus ( dank geht wohl hauptsächlich an george w. bush) geniesst kann es nicht schaden ein bisschen wasser in den wein zu kippen.

eigentlich dürfte es keinen überraschen das nicht alles in den filmen genau der realität entspricht. einige der "gestellten" fakten sind für einen selbsternannten dokufilmer aber unter aller kanone.

behaltet das also im hinterkopf wenn ihr seinen neuen film "sicko" (us gesundheitswesen) sehen werdet

"Why We Fight" BBC documentary

this is ot (i hope), but i saw this film in the last year on german tv.

this documentary comes under the label of the the british bbc. that alone should provide the credibility. but i have to admit that lots of people could view this docu as biased. but at least they can´t blame the french.... :-)

the full film is 100 minutes long. i think it is worth watching every minute and i hope that this docu has also made to the bigger us networks (maybe you can tell me in the comments)

but if you want to get the key point skip to minute 30,35 to see what eisenhower has to say at his farewell address to the american people in 1961

diese geschichte hat nur extrem weit entfernt was mit dem blog zu tun. ich habe das teil im letzten jahr irgendwo auf arte oder einem dritten programm gesehen.

der fakt das die bbc diese doku gemacht hat sollte für objektiviät stehen. bei ner französichen produktion wäre ich mir da nicht so sicher...

die doku läuft satte 100 minuten. ich kann jedem empfehlen das gute stück komplett zu gucken.

wer allerdings die kernaussage hören möchte sollte zur 30,35 minute skippen und sich die ansprache von eisenhower aus dem jahre 1961 anhören.

sieht so aus als wenn der mann recht behalten hat.
