The nation's trade deficit narrowed 0.3% to $64.8 billion, the Commerce Department said

The fact that the trade gap narrowed was unexpected. The May trade deficit was revised up to $65 billion, the second highest on record.

The consensus forecast of Wall Street economists had been for the deficit to widen to $64.5 billion from the initial May reading of $63.8 billion

fakt ist also das ducrh ne anhebung im vormoant das jetzige ergebnis optisch besser dasteht. revisionen an sich sind nichts schlimmes und gerade in den usa
uafgrund der zeitnahen erhebung auch angebracht. allerdings ist mit aufgefallen das egal wo es in letzter zeit revisionen gegeben hat (oft im kleingedruckten oder auf einer der letzten seiten vermerkt) es immer dazu geführt hat das die aktuelle zahl positiver aussieht. (besonders bei allen verfügbaren immobiliendaten sowie selbstverständlich beim arbeitsmarktbericht)

sinnergerweise hat der $ aufgrund dieser "tollen news" einen ordentlichen gen norden sprung gemacht. schon logisch, oder?

der wirklich positive punkt in der veröffentlichung ist der:

In June, exports rose faster than imports. Both categories set new record highs.

June's exports rose 2.0% to $120.7 billion, while imports rose 1.2% to $185.5 billion.
Exports of goods alone rose 3% in June to $86.6 billion. The U.S. exported a record amount of agricultural products, industrial supplies and capital goods.

The improvement came even as exports of civilian aircraft, a key source of strength, declined in June. Exports of civilian aircraft fell 8.6% to $3.2 billion.

bin schon gespannt auf die nächste "revision". achtet mal morgen auf die schlagzeilen der presse. könnte wetten das dort vom rückgang des defizites gesprochen wird.
