Some would say that increasing short interest is a good contrarian indicator. Meaning: expect the markets to continue rising. And then rise even more, as shorts begin covering.

Given the current (sehr spannkräftig) bull market, especially since last summer, it makes sense to carry some margin. Although I don't use margin personally.

hello,

i think some of the short interest is related to other strategies / market participants.

even i as a very small investor am short GS and long UBS to hedge my position (should have shorted Bear instead.... :-)

i know a few others personally that are short interest rate sensitive stocks and are long commodities etc.

multiply this with billions from hedge fonds , trading desk etc.......

i think that it is still very dangerous to go net short.

but given the weakening fundamentals it is harder day by day to keep the patience...

Stimmt. The 'happy talk' still dominates, especially on the mass market tabloid-ish financial news sites.

but given the weakening fundamentals it is harder day by day to keep the patience...

Ich kenne das Gefühl...emotionally I want to go short more. But analytically I know it is not yet time. I will watch and wait.
